A good friend of mine, NYC photgrapher Sari Goodfriend, sent me a link to Hengki Koentjoro’s amazing photos via Feature Shoot. Dramatic and evocative — I love his use of black and white for the shots. Simply breathtaking.
Hengki Koentjoro was born in Semarang, Central Java, Indonesia, in 1963. He is a graduate of the Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, California where he majored in film. He now lives in Jakarta where he specializes in fine art photography both underwater and on land.
Meet Joe. Joe D. Cat. No really, that’s his name.
Joe is one sweet dude. Somehow his eyes always seem slightly sad and melancholy to me, as though he’s recalling distant times and far-away memories…

So, I had laser eye surgery back in my freshman year of college because my eyesight was so poor that a hand less than 10 inches in front of my face was blurry. Waking up in the morning always induced a slight panic attack (I never wore contacts to bed) since I literally could not see my surroundings until my glasses were found. Contacts just didn’t work out very well for me. I finally couldn’t take it anymore and voila! One minute I was blind as a bat (pretty much literally), the next I was reading signs all the way across the street. But now, alas, my eyesight has been slipping in my right eye rather rapidly for some time now. It’s pretty bad at the moment and I think the time has come for glasses (at least to wear during movies and while reading). I’ve actually been really inspired by all the super cute frames that seem to be cropping up all over fashion campaigns and editorials lately. Which ones do you all like??

Most of these images I’ve gathered from different (and by now, unknown) sources over the years. Some are via Pinterest, J.Crew, and Fashion Gone Rogue, to name a few.
Loving this romantic beachside editorial by San Franciscan Chelsea Millunchick for Ben Trovato. With the soft dreamlike quality of light the photos have such a sweet longing and wistfulness to them. Gorgeous.

This is one of my absolute favorite photos of one of my best friends and muse, Clara Catalina Rodriguez. Not only does she happen to be amazingly awesome and gorgeous she is also an incredibly talented flamenco dancer, singer, and teacher. She was one of the featured dancers in the Iron and Wine music video, Boy with a Coin. (Which she didn’t tell any of us about until the video was shot and had already come out!!)
